Tuncer Can completed his MA in English Language Teaching at Istanbul University, Turkey. He taught "English Grammar", "Advanced Reading Skill" and "An Introduction to Linguistics" at Istanbul University’s Hasan Ali Yucel Faculty of Education English Language Teaching Department from October 2001 to July 2004. His MA research focused on Constructivism, Foreign Language Teaching and Teacher Training. His research interests include language teaching, foreign language teacher training, linguistics, discourse analysis and sociolinguistics. He also taught English at the beginner, intermediate and upper-intermediate levels in various language schools and courses in Istanbul between 1998-2001. At present, he is engaged in teaching Turkish via distance learning in Syracuse University and Cornell University in New York. He teaches Internediate level Turkish via Videoconference.
Hatice Eda Gebenliler graduated from Gazi University in Ankara, Turkey. She has been working at Gazi University since 1999 as an English instructor. Currently, she is engaged in teaching Turkish language and culture and designing Turkish language teaching materials at Governors State University in University Park, Illinois.
Aynur Kesen earned her BA in the English Language Teaching Department, Faculty of Education, Cukurova University in Adana, Turkey in 1997. She completed her MA thesis in 1999. The thesis deals with L2 learners’ self-image and assesses the strategies employed in reading short stories for language acquisition. In 2002 Aynur completed her PhD with a dissertation concerned with short stories in an English Language Teaching (ELT) context based on a reader-response approach. She has been working as an instructor in the ELT Department at Cukurova University in Turkey since 1997. She teaches courses in the short story and the novel, and an introduction to literature.
Yesim Kesli earned a BA in English Language Teaching (ELT) at the Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey in 1999. Since starting in 1999 as a research assistant she has worked in the ELT Department at Cukurova University, Adana. She received her MA degree from Cukurova University upon completion of her thesis on first language acquisition, Pragmatic Development of Turkish Children in L1 Acquisition. She has continued at Cukurova University as PhD candidate. Upon returning to Turkey after completion of the FLTA program she will give her defense to receive a PhD degree. For the last five years she has completed research and taught writing, psycholinguistics and study skills at the Department. She also worked as an instructor for the Open Education Faculty in the ELT Department from 2001-04. Currently, she is teaching Turkish at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.
Sezgi Saraç
graduated from the Middle East Technical University Department of Foreign
Language Education in 1998. She worked at Baskent University in Ankara as an
English Instructor, received her MA from Hacettepe University, and is continuing
toward earning her PhD at the Hacettepe
University Department of English Language Teaching, where she has been working
as a Research Assistant. Her interest areas are syllabus design, course
material development,
educational psychology, teacher education and teaching poetry. She has been an
executive board member of the English Language Teaching Association in Turkey.
Currently, she is working as a Fulbright FLTA instructor of Turkish language and
culture at the State University of New York, Binghamton.
Bengü Taşkesen earned her BA in English language and literature at Ankara University, Turkey. She also has a certificate for teaching English as a Second Language from Hacettepe University in Ankara. In 2001-02, she taught as an Instructor of English at Gazi University. She earned a MA in English literature at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara. For the last two years Bengü worked as a Research Assistant and taught English language and literature at the Middle East Technical University. Currently, she is engaged in teaching Turkish language and culture in Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pennsylvania.
Merih Yenidunya was born in Istanbul in 1979 and grew up in Izmir. In 2001 she graduated from Marmara University after studying English Language Teaching. In that year she passed the exam required to become an English language instructor. She has teaching experience in a public high school and, starting in 2001, at Trakya University in Edrine. At the University she is an English instructor teaching English grammar and skills at the Faculty of Architecture and Engineering and at its PrepPrograms. At present she is a Fulbright FLTA teaching Turkish at the University of Texas at Austin.
