A CLOZE PROCEDURE                                                                                      

  1.  Set the scene.

( 2.  Explain students what ‘ cloze ‘ is )

  3.  Hand out sheets.

  4.  Students read the first and last paragraphs which contain no deleted words.

  5.  Teacher reads out the text ( ‘ blank ‘ or silent seconds )

  6.  Students read a paragraph ( with deletions )

  7.  Pair work: Find out the deleted words with their reasons ( justification )

  8.  Whole class basis: Pairs read out paragraphs

                                 compare & discuss

  9.  Steps 6-8 repeated for the next paragraph

 10. Homework! Similar cloze paragraph!
