CONCLUSION

       After a close study on the coursebook ”Project 1” it has been seen that this coursebook teaches according to the integrated skills aspect. This is proved by the facts of the study.

       In the end of the study , if the final numbers of the study are examined closely it can be seen that the “ Speaking skill” dominates the Project 1 coursebook with 56 matches, however in the workbook “Writing skill” is dominant with 58 mathces. This leads to the notion that the Project 1 course gives a special emphasis on the productive skills which are speaking and writing whereas receptive skills such as listening and reading are found as follows : 16 matches for listening skill test items and 1 for the reading skill. This also enlightens the idea of that the input is provided by listening activities. It is also seen that almost all of the parts such as dialogues, pictures and reading materials can be listened which proves that the input is given by listening. Although the listening skill seems to have a small number of seperate activities it is integrated with the most of the activities ,so this makes it have an important role for the whole course provided by the Poject 1. Writing skill testing items are 24 in the coursebook and as stated before 58 in the workbook.Grammar items are 13 in the coursebook and 2 in the workbook. Vocabulary items proved to be 6 in the coursebook and 8 in the workbook. These facts can be seen on the GRAPHIC 1. The speaking skill domination is clearly seen by %48 . Writing skill follows after with %21,listening skill with %14, grammar with %11, vocabulary with %5 and reading skill with %1.

The testing items according to the skills have been given.

However,there’s another fact which is that an important number of the testing items have been applied by the integrated skills.39 testing items matches of listening and speaking skill have been found in the whole course.It has been followed by the writing skill and grammar integrated items with 23 matches.Listening and writing integrated testing items are the third with 11 matches.And the last one is writing and vocabulary  integrated items with 10 matches.These  facts are stated in the GRAPHIC 2.

         As a result, this course provided by the “ PROJECT 1” coursebook and workbook tends to be an integrated skills type. When the teaching and learning aspects are considered it has been seen that this course provides an intensive productive skills study for the students and gives them variety of learning activities and enables the teachers to test their students by various testing items of all aspects in the teaching process.
